This month I read the book Faceless by Alyssa Sheinmel. This is a realistic fiction about Maisie’s journey to recovery after part of her face is destroyed in an electrical fire. Maisie’s burns are so bad that the tissue in her cheeks, nose, and chin actually died. Although Maisie wouldn’t call herself lucky because lucky girls don’t get their face burned off, Maisie was offered a face transplant instead of get multiple surgeries trying to fix her face and them might not even working. Even after getting the surgery Maisie has trouble with her physical appearance and she also has to take 3 pills a day while still going to school. People at her school remember what she was like before the accident and she hates that she can’t go back. Maisie has to ask herself throughout the book…is it even all worth it?

Other people might say their favorite part of the book are the characters but my favorite part of the book has to be the plot. The plot of Faceless is so fascinating and interesting that you just want to keep reading it. Who knows, maybe after you read it, it might be your new favorite book because it is definitely one of mine.

My favorite character has to be Maisie. I love Maisie! I love her personality and everything about her. If I had to give her a character trait it would be confident because as she’s going through recovery she feels more and more good about herself. A quote to show what I mean and also my favorite quote is, “You have to learn to love yourself before you can love someone else. Because it’s only when we love ourselves that we feel worthy of someone else’s love.” This is also my favorite quote because it teaches you self love and kindness to yourself to get love and I think that is really special.

The movie world in Ella Enchanted is somewhere I would like to live. I would love to be one of the fairy characters and give gifts to people. It’d be fun to be the god mother and see what the kids I give gifts to, grow up to be like. Imagine being able to fly wherever you wanted. It would be so awesome! Not only that but being able to cast spells on whatever you wanted or not having to do chores. Although that sounds lazy I would still like a break once and a while from my chores. You can just get what you want by just saying a few words, imagine that! That is definitely a world I would love to live in.

When my birthday comes my mom and dad always make my favorite meal. First, my favorite drink is Thai Ice tea. When my mom makes this it’s the perfect sweetness and the perfect flavor. I love the way it looks and I love how refreshing it is. Next, my favorite side dish is rice. I really like rice because when it’s hot it’s just tastes amazing and it goes with a lot of other main dishes as well. My favorite main course is a Filipino dish called Kare-Kare. It’s a Philippine stew (kare originates from “curry”) that features a thick savory peanut sauce. My dad makes it’s the best I’ve ever had it, it’s honestly restaurant level in my opinion. Lastly dessert, I’m a big sweets person so I like a lot of desserts but if I had to choose one, it would be macarons. Macarons are the most delicious yet light and airy treat that would definitely make me happy after a meal filling meal. Who knows, maybe you will find this your new favorite dish!

If I could live in my dream house, it has to be a one story because I’m scared of big houses so I feel a one story house is perfect. I would want the outside of the house to be a nice dark cool blue with white windows and a grey triangle roof. I would also like to have nice bushes, pretty flowers and a nice white fence. The inside of the house I would like to have a nice comfy feel. My house would have two bedrooms and two bathrooms with a living room, dining room and a kitchen. The main colors I would want my furniture to be are grey, brown and white. I would want my bedroom to have a nice big closet for my clothes and good windows to open in the morning. Also in my room I would like a computer table so I can do my work and a big bed to lay in. I would like for my dining room to have a chandelier and my living room to to have a fireplace with a nice grey comfortable couch. Each bathroom will have a big shower and bathtub with marble countertops and big mirrors. When a person walks into my house they will definitely feel welcomed.

If I could travel to any place on plane Earth it would be Thailand. This is my answer every time, why? First, the food there is amazing. I really want to eat my favorite soup called Palo because I would think if it’s good here it’s going to be good in the same country. Second, I would like to visit my aunt and cousins who live in Surat Thani, so they can take me to places I haven’t been before. Lastly, seeing the buildings in Thailand would be fun to see and interesting. I would imagine that it would be beautiful. I hope I convinced you that Thailand is a good place to visit and maybe you will now like to go also!
