I was told to write about what’s going on in my life recently, and my life recently has been great! I’ll start with a few weeks ago. My grandma and my aunt went out of town on vacation so that led them to ask me to help take care of their dogs (which are the best dogs ever!) over the course of 2 weeks. It was so fun going over to their house everyday, and have them play with me and jump all over me! Also I’m glad school has been really fun, my grades have gone up and hanging out with my friends was fun and still is. I’ve went to my aunts house where everyone was there! My cousins, aunts, uncles, some friends, they were all there and it was really fun because we were all watching the Super Bowl. Thats basically what I’ve been doing the past weeks, so what have you been up to?
Life on my abandoned island is sometimes lonely but for the most part it’s peaceful. When I was traveling alone on my dad’s speed boat, I ran out of gas! I was lucky close to an abandoned island but I was scared to death. Although that was a long time ago, I still sometimes think about my family. Life on this Island is peaceful and quiet, I get to listen to the ocean all the time like I would do on the beach my family and I use to go. I’ve always loved the sound of the ocean, but now that I’ve listened to it every single day for six months, I don’t know if I really “love” it anymore. The island I’m stuck on is an “L” shape and it has a lot of sand but also is kind of rocky like. There’s a whole forest of palm trees and plants which is what I use! Okay, enough talking about the sad stuff, let’s talk about what I do daily! First thing in the morning when I wake in my hammock, made of palm leaves and sticks, I use mint leaves I found a little while back when I was exploring to “brush my teeth” and than I start catching food for breakfast! I travel deep into the ocean just so I’m near the fish my still standing, and I move slowly and try and catch the fish. If or when I do I catch the fish, I sit by my fire station I made from wood, sticks, and flint and I start cooking it. After I’m done eating I start working on my hut I’m trying to build and make stable. You’re probably thinking It’s been six months and she still hasn’t built shelter?, well I have but there was a storm and thankfully the shelter lasted but it’s just not in the best conditions. I work on my shelter until it’s maybe sunset or about to and then I go to catch fish again! Sometimes I still have left over fish from the morning but if I’m really hungry I would eat all of it. I cook the food then walk around for a little bit (not like I haven’t done that a million time already), and just see if I can find stuff like this one time I found a bunch a shells so I made a necklace out of them! By the time I finish all of that it’s time to head for bed. I setting into my hammock and wait for a little bit just so the sun has fully settled and the shining moon is out. I watch the stars glisten and the moon shine until finally I fall asleep. That’s what I do in my daily life on my abandoned island!
I was told to pick between two quote and I picked this one. There are many reasons why I picked this one but what it means to me is the biggest. What this quote means to me is even when you’re going through dark times and you’re really sad, you can always find happiness by a certain person or multiple people. I really liked this because it’s help you understand that if you’re down or sad, sometimes you just need to surround yourself with people that make you happy. When I’m down or sad at times, I like to talk to my brother or just my best friends. For that reason, that is why I picked this quote.
In January, for rad reading I read The Wish by Gail Carson Levine. It’s about this unpopular girl named Wilma who gave her seat on the bus to an old lady and then gets granted a wish. She wishes to be popular at her school even though she only had three weeks left at Claverford. Wilma becomes so loved by everyone and became best friends with the three most popular people BeeBee, Ardis, and Nina Draper but also gets a boyfriend Jared. She didn’t pick Jared because he was popular (which he wasn’t) but because she loved him and loved everything about him. She lived to see what happened after graduation. Will everyone ditch her or will they stay loving her?
I recommend reading this book because the storyline. I absolutely fell in love with the story line because of the drama and also the character development. Wilma just wanted to be popular and I think a lot of people relate to that but in the end it didn’t really mattered if she was still popular, she just wanted her friends and her boyfriend to stay with her. This book also had some romance that was very interesting. In conclusion, that is why I really recommend this book.
My favorite character is Wilma. Wilma is my favorite character because of how caring she is towards other people and also how she puts people up when they say bad stuff about themselves. One of Wilma’s traits is thoughtful, and one quote from page 142 to prove this is, “ Nina was struggling with her zipper. ‘I wanted to lose five pounds for Grad Night, but I gained six.’ ‘Points off’ I said feeling daring, ‘for putting yourself down.’ I hadn’t teased any of them before.” This shows that even though she never made fun of Nina, she still made the effort to try and put Nina up.
My favorite quote from the book has to be, “ I tripped on the first step down from the stage.” This is my favorite quote because this it’s so relatable to me. When I was in fifth grade I had to walk up on stage and get my award for promotion but when I was going up the stairs, I tripped and it was really embarrassing, but it’s okay but now I can laugh at that. For that reason, that is why this is my favorite quote
