Jessie’s Hero

Somebody I look up to as my hero is my brother, Jayson. There are a lot of reasons why he’s my hero but my top three are he helps me with everything, he always shows up to events that mean a lot to me even when he’s busy, and he always listens. First, he helps me with everything. When I’m down, he helps me or when I can’t do my homework, he also helps me. He always offers to help and I feel like I want to be like that too for people. Second, he always shows up to events that mean a lot to me even when he’s busy. Always when I have a school event or a sport competition, I look for him because he always cheers the loudest in my opinion. When he’s there I just feel I will always win no matter what and that’s something I really admire about him. Finally, he always listens. Jayson is that type of person that always listens even when he doesn’t want to or even if he’s arguing about something. He always listens to the other person and what they have to say and I feel that’s something everyone likes. Those are my top three reasons why I admire my brother. Who is your hero?

Rad Reading – December

In December, I read Button Pusher by Tyler Page. The author wrote this book while remembering how ADHD impacted his school life, friendships, and his family.
This book is about a boy named Tyler. He has a ADHD and throughout the book we get his perspective of life and how he learns to grow and mature with it. Some people think he’s a troublemaker but he really just is curious about stuff and really creative. Tyler experiences moments that have never happened to him before and he learns from them.

I really enjoyed this book as the characters just really connected and made up a true story. Tyler’s character felt so real and the supporting characters just helped so much to the story. Though, it doesn’t stop there. Tyler Page did an amazing job at making his stories into a book. Throughout the story not only did characters grew and matured but also the Tyler’s character himself. That’s why I really recommend this book.

My favorite character is Tyler. Tyler is my favorite character because he’s so interesting and I really relate to his feelings. One of his character traits is artistic. He’s the best artist in his grade. A quote that proves that is, “There was a thing about the whole process— the nuts and bolts— of making a comic… Coming up with an idea. Designing characters. Figuring out the story, changing it around. Drawing the art in pencil first. Lettering the words. Inking the art. It latched onto something in my brain and I fed off it. This quote proves that even thought he has a lot of stuff going on his art and the process of a comic is something he finds really interesting.

My favorite quote from Button Pusher is, “…this was the last thing I could shard with my dad. One last “nice” memory I could make with him before moving out and basically saying “goodbye” to my family.” This quote is my favorite because it’s saying that even though he’s has a lot of ups and downs with his family he still cares a lot for them and I really relate to that

Yearly Word!

Instead of making a new year’s resolution, I am going to focus on one word. That word is perseverance! I am going to do everything I can while trying my best and having a great attitude. My first reason why I picked this word is because I get really lazy. When I get lazy it makes me not want to get ready in the morning or just throughout the day so that’s a reason why I would want to work on this word. My second reason for this word is I would like to keep in a habit of doing things even if I don’t want to do it like for example, making my bed, I sometimes put off stuff like that and say I’ll do it later but then I sometimes don’t. Lastly, the final reason why I would like to focus on this word is because I would to focus on my grades and persevere to work on my homework everyday at 3:30 when I get home. Those are the three reasons why I picked perseverance as my new year word, what’s your new year word?
